Video AI 5 review: Unbelievable upscaler and denoiser for rescuing footage

AI-powered tools that transform footage from low to high quality. But watch out; Video AI 5 is incredibly RAM intensive.

Our Verdict

Video AI 5 delivers a small range of easy-to-use tools for enhancing video footage. The upscaler can go right up to 16x, the denoiser works great with low-light scenes, and regular footage can be converted into slow-mo. The upscaler and denoiser are particularly good but watch out; you'll quickly run out of RAM if you're not careful, rendering the software absolutely useless.

For

  • Amazing denoiser
  • Incredible upscaling
  • Easy-to-use interface

Against

  • Very RAM intensive
  • Patchy slow-motion feature
  • Not perfect every time

I first came across Topaz Labs in the early days of Gigapixel, an AI-powered image upscaler capable of scaling images to seriously crazy sizes. I remember seriously wondering how on earth they could do it. It seemed like the dark arts were at play but the creators have continued their habit of creating incredible software that appears to achieve the impossible.
