The Walmart Black Friday sale has begun. The retail giant has started its seasonal discounts a week after the Best Buy Black Friday sale, but was it worth the wait? Well, I'm actually surprised by how good some of the deals are.

It's often hard to know if Walmart's deals are genuine because it stocks so many options from third party sellers who inflate their prices and then knock them down claiming it's a discount. But I've dug through all of the official Walmart Black Friday deals online, and I've picked out some genuine bargains from the duds.

Samsung 65in TU690T Crystal UHD 4K TV: $669.99$398 at Walmart
Save $271:

Samsung 65in TU690T Crystal UHD 4K TV: $669.99 $398 at Walmart
Save $271:
This range of Samsung 4K TVs is on clearance at Best Buy too, but Walmart has beaten Best Buy's Black Friday price on the 65in model by just three dollars. Samsung bills these as its entry-level 4K TVs, but the Crystal Processor 4K offers powerful 4K upscaling and the simplified version of the 2021 Tizen OS interface includes most of the features of more advanced versions of its smart TVs.

Sony Bravia OLED 4K TV (65-inch): $2,198$1,398 at Walmart
Save $800:

Sony Bravia OLED 4K TV (65-inch): $2,198 $1,398 at Walmart
Save $800:
For a higher end OLED 4K TV, there are some great deals on Sony Bravia options right now. Best Buy has several in its Black Friday sale, and we weren't expecting to see it beaten on price, but this deal from Walmart is the best offer we can see right now on a 65 incher. XR OLED Contrast Pro provides excellent contrast, you get Google TV for streaming. This is also a great option for PS5 gaming thanks to HDMI 2.1 features.

MSI GF63 15in Gaming Laptop: $699$479 at Walmart
Save $220:

MSI GF63 15in Gaming Laptop: $699 $479 at Walmart
Save $220:
This was already one of the cheapest decent gaming laptops around, but now it's really, really cheap in Walmart's best Black Friday laptop deal. The screen isn’t anything to shout about and the design is hardly the most modern, but with a decent Intel Core i5 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3050 graphics, this light, partly metal laptop offers tremendous value for power users and entry-level gamers.

Cricut Maker 3: $429$379 at Walmart
Save $50:

Cricut Maker 3: $429 $379 at Walmart
Save $50:
It's not often that we see a direct saving on Cricut's flagship cutting machine, the Maker 3. Cricut itself often runs Maker 3 bundle deals, which include materials and tools (see our roundup of Black Friday Cricut deals for those) but not discounts on the machine alone. This is the only one we can find in the US at the moment.

Apple AirPods (2nd generation): $129$69 at Walmart
Save $60:

Apple AirPods (2nd generation): $129 $69 at Walmart
Save $60:
This Black Friday deal delivers the lowest price we've ever seen on the 2nd gen Apple AirPods. These are often on sale since Apple now has a third-generation design with shorter stems, but this beats the previous best price by $10 (Amazon had them for $79 during Black Friday last year). As the standard inner ears, these have no active noise cancellation, but for that the AirPods Pro 2 are also in the Walmart Black Friday sale.

Samsung The Frame 85in: $3,499 $2,749 at Walmart
Save $750:

Samsung The Frame 85in: $3,499 $2,749 at Walmart
Save $750:
Have a big wall that needs a centrepiece and can't choose between a piece of artwork or a huge TV? You can choose because now's the moment to get a massive saving on the 85in model Samsung's extraordinary The Frame TV. This is the cheapest price we've seen on this huge screen.

Asus Vivobook 15in: $549.99 $449.99 at Walmart
Save $100:

Asus Vivobook 15in: $549.99 $449.99 at Walmart
Save $100:
For a reliable laptop for basic work and entertainment, this is great value. This is close to the entry-level end of Asus's offerings, and it's not intended for handling demanding creative software, but with an AMD processor and graphics and 16GB of RAM, this configuration is no slouch.

Samsung T7 Shield 2TB SSD: $119.99 at Amazon
Save $40:

Samsung T7 Shield 2TB SSD: $119.99 at Amazon
Save $40:
This is my own top pick as an external SSD, and I've been using one for a year now for day-to-day backup for photos and video. It's reassuringly robust, compact and has a nice grippy texture and finish. Walmart has a price of $129.99, which it's claiming represents a $160 discount. That might sound like a decent deal, but Amazon has the SSD for $10 cheaper.

Surface Pro 9 i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD: $1,599$1,290.30 at Amazon
Save $309

Surface Pro 9 i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD: $1,599 $1,290.30 at Amazon
Save $309
This is another device that I use myself – in fact, I'm writing on it right now (although on the 512GB version). It's a great Windows-running tablet that turns into a laptop if you buy the Type Cover. It's very close here, but Amazon does just beat the Walmart Black Friday price of $1,299by just a few dollars.

Apple Watch Series 9: from $399$349 at Walmart and at Amazon
Save $50:

Apple Watch Series 9: from $399 $349 at Walmart (and at Amazon)
Save $50:
This one's a dead heat. The newest Apple Watch was only released in September. Amazon offered a discount very briefly during its Prime Day Big Deal Days in October. Walmart is now offering $50 off the new watch across the different sizes and configurations, but Amazon has quickly stolen its thunder by matching the offer.
