Tell your story faster with Trint’s AI-powered transcription tools
For communicators of all kinds, there’s nothing more laborious than handling transcripts. There was a time when, as a journalist, I had to phone stories in for someone in the office to type them up. Technology has evolved since then, and we can now write for print, web and video on phones, tablets or laptops wherever we are working, but transcription still slows down the process of telling stories.
Trint’s AI-powered platform is changing that, helping content creators, video producers and copywriters of all kinds work faster and smarter. What began exclusively as transcription software, has evolved and expanded its remit to become a content creation tool with real-time collaboration, editing and translation capabilities and a new Trint mobile app for capturing and sharing live transcriptions on the go.
What does Trint do?
Trint helps content creators, producers and media organisations tell stories faster. It was founded by the Emmy Award-winning war correspondent Jeff Kofman, who drew on his own frustration with manual transcription to create a program that could help future journalists and storytellers do things more easily.
The platform provides accurate AI-powered transcription and allows you to publish your final cut faster thanks to real-time collaborative tools that let you review, edit and play back your transcript. It supports transcription in 30+ languages, immediate translation in over 50 and captioning in just a couple of clicks, and data is kept safe by ISO 27001-certified security protocols, SSO and customisable user access controls.
Reporters out in the field can capture audio from an interview or event on the Trint mobile app and transcribe it live. Editors receive every word back in the office in real time, allowing quotes to be quickly sourced and verified. Teams collaborate on the transcript, build Stories in Trint’s Story Builder and then share them with the world before the event is even over.
How does Trint work?
Trint uses AI to convert speech to text in seconds, be it from an interview, archive footage or phone calls. Users can upload most audio and video file types directly to the Trint web platform or mobile app, which use automated speech recognition (ASR) and natural language processing (NLP) to decipher the sounds and match them with words in its fully customisable dictionary. The result is a time-coded transcript with up to 99% accuracy. But that’s just the beginning. The text is then displayed in the Trint Editor, making it searchable, editable and shareable.
This allows users to edit, check timecodes and verify the transcript by listening to the audio as the words appear on the screen in both US and UK English and more than 30 other languages. The search function means you don’t have to listen to an entire recording to find the interesting section you want. And if you’re working with a team, you can easily share and edit a project or send a final copy for people to read via email.
The Comments function allows you to share notes and feedback, you can highlight sections in a range of colours and bookmark key moments, and the Verify feature allows paragraphs to be marked as 100% accurate to avoid doubling up on work. Transcripts can then be exported in a wide range of formats.
Workspaces can be created with customisable permissions for different people, and you can even create Public Links to share content with anyone who’s not on Trint. You can also transcribe broadcasts and streams live. Transcripts appear as fast as 3 seconds and are compatible with common streaming formats, including both push (RTMP) and pull (RTMP, RTSP, HLS, Icecast, FFMPEG), making Trint a go-to tool for content creators across a range of industries.
