December 2011 (#195)
Learn how to design brilliant mobile apps with our latest issue, on sale now
App design. Is it currently part of your daily design work? If the answer is ‘no’, it’s pretty certain that it will soon be ‘yes’. With more and more clients demanding an app alongside their campaigns or print activity, it’s only a matter of time until you’ll be tasked with designing one. And would you know how to approach it? This month we’ll get you on your way.
I promised last month that I’d tell you more about our new sister title, Computer Arts Collection. Out every eight weeks, with each issue covering a core creative topic – these being graphic design, typography, illustration, branding, photography and advertising – it really is an unmissable read. Of particular note is the 48-page guest-edited Studio Project section, where a top creative studio divulges its most intimate secrets when working through a brief. Honestly, you’d be mad to miss it. The first one – Graphic Design – goes on sale 8 December in the UK. Find out more here.
And it’s great news that Computer Arts is now available on Apple’s Newsstand. It means that you can get your fix of this mag wherever you are – on either iPhone or iPad. The reader app is free to download, and from that you can buy either a subscription or a single issue.
I strongly urge you to check out this month’s Studio Life on the DVD free with this issue. It’s a fascinating glimpse into life at Made by Many. These documentaries just keep getting better.
Enjoy the issue,
Rob Carney Editor
