Add impact with bold use of colour
Tobias Warwick Jones reveals how to bring rich, riotous tones to a pencil sketch.
Illustration has always been a part of successful company identities, advertising campaigns and other commercial creative endeavours, and it's not going to die out any time soon.
Modern software has given illustrators the means to cut corners on techniques that traditionally took much longer to execute. However, computers can never replace an artist's unique understanding of light, shade, texture and shape - and that's what sets someone apart from the crowd.
In this tutorial, we'll look at some straightforward techniques that mimic the traditional inking process while maintaining the flexibility offered by Adobe Creative Suite. This gives you the ability to make the kind of late-in-the-day changes that used to require a full restart from the drawing phase, and with minimal impact on the workflow.
